ニニギ: Ninigi, grandson of Amaterasu who came down to rule the earth

ニニギは、筑紫つくしの高千穂たかちほに降おりました。

Ninigi came down to Takachiho in Tsukushi.

国譲くにゆずりの後あと、アマテラスの孫まごのニニギが、地上ちじょうを治おさめるために、天てんから降おりることになりました。

After the yielding of the land, Amaterasu’s grandson Ninigi was to go down from heaven in order to rule the earth.

ニニギは、五伴緒いつとものおという五ご人にんの神かみを連つれて、天てんから降おりました。

Ninigi came down from heaven with five gods called the Itsutomo no o.

ニニギは、鏡かがみと玉たまと剣けんという、三みっつの宝たからを持もっていきました。

Ninigi took three treasures with him: a mirror, jewels, and a sword.

ニニギは、「ここは、朝日あさひと夕日ゆうひがさす、よい国くにだ」と言いって、宮殿きゅうでんを建たてました。

Ninigi said, “This is a good land, lit by the morning sun and the evening sun,” and built a palace.

その後そのご、ニニギは、オオヤマツミの娘むすめ、コノハナサクヤヒメに会あいました。

After that, Ninigi met Konohanasakuyahime, the daughter of Ōyamatsumi.
