孫まごの顔かおを見みるまでは死しねぬと、老ろう王おうは笑わらった。

The old king laughed, saying he could not die until he saw his grandchild's face.

国譲くにゆずりの後あと、アマテラスの孫まごのニニギが、地上ちじょうを治おさめるために、天てんから降おりることになりました。

After the yielding of the land, Amaterasu’s grandson Ninigi was to go down from heaven in order to rule the earth.

天てんの神かみの孫まごが降おりてくるので、この出来事できごとを、天孫降臨てんそんこうりんといいます。

Because a grandchild of the heavenly god came down, this event is called tenson kōrin, “the descent of the heavenly grandchild.”
