鏡: mirror

毎朝まいあさ、鏡かがみの前まえで髪を整かみをととのえる。

Every morning I fix my hair in front of the mirror.

次つぎに、イシコリドメが八咫鏡やたのかがみという鏡かがみを作つくり、タマノオヤが八尺瓊勾玉やさかにのまがたまという玉たまの首飾くびかざりを作つくりました。

Next, Ishikoridome made a mirror called the Yata no Kagami, and Tamanoya made a necklace of jewels called the Yasakani no Magatama.

そのとき、神々かみがみが鏡かがみを差し出さしだしたので、アマテラスは、ますます不思議ふしぎに思おもって、少すこし外そとへ出でてきました。

Then the gods held out the mirror, and Amaterasu, wondering even more, came a little way out.

鏡かがみと玉たまは、のちに、剣けんとともに三種の神器さんしゅのじんぎと呼よばれる宝たからになったといわれています。

It is said that the mirror and the jewels later became, together with a sword, the treasures called the Three Sacred Treasures.

ニニギは、鏡かがみと玉たまと剣けんという、三みっつの宝たからを持もっていきました。

Ninigi took three treasures with him: a mirror, jewels, and a sword.

アマテラスは、鏡かがみをわたして、「この鏡かがみを、私わたしだと思おもって、まつりなさい」と言いいました。

Amaterasu handed over the mirror and said, “Worship this mirror as if it were me.”
