高天原: Takamagahara

高天原たかまがはらから降り立おりたった神かみが、この国くにを築きずいた。

A god who descended from Takamagahara built this country.

そのとき、天てんの高天原たかまがはらという所ところに、神々かみがみが現あらわれました。

At that time, gods appeared in a place in heaven called Takamagahara.

高天原たかまがはらは、天てんにある、神々かみがみの国くにです。

Takamagahara is the land of the gods in heaven.

高天原たかまがはらに、最初さいしょに現あらわれた神かみは、アメノミナカヌシです。

The first god to appear in Takamagahara was Ame-no-minakanushi.

アマテラスは、太陽たいようの女神めがみで、高天原たかまがはらを治おさめることになりました。

Amaterasu was the sun goddess, and it was decided that she would rule Takamagahara.

追い出おいだされたスサノオは、「母ははのいる根の国ねのくにへ行いく前まえに、姉あねのアマテラスに会あいたい」と言いって、高天原たかまがはらへ上のぼっていきました。

Driven out, Susanoo said, “Before I go to the Land of Roots where my mother is, I want to see my elder sister Amaterasu,” and he went up to Takamagahara.
