洞窟どうくつの奥おくに、古ふるい祭壇さいだんが隠かくされていた。

An old altar was hidden deep in the cave.

アマテラスは、おそろしくなって、岩いわの洞どうくつに閉とじこもってしまいました。

Amaterasu became frightened and shut herself away in a rock cave.

アマテラスは、天岩戸あまのいわとという洞どうくつに入はいって、戸とを閉しめてしまいました。

Amaterasu went into a cave called the Heavenly Rock Cave and shut the door.

くらい洞どうくつの中なかで、笑い声わらいごえを不思議ふしぎに思おもったアマテラスは、戸とを少すこしだけ開あけて、「どうしてみんな笑わらっているのですか」と聞ききました。

Inside the dark cave, Amaterasu wondered at the laughter, opened the door just a little, and asked, “Why is everyone laughing?”

フトダマが、後うしろにしめ縄しめなわを張はったので、アマテラスは、もう洞どうくつに戻もどれなくなり、世界せかいに光ひかりが戻もどりました。

Futodama stretched a sacred rope behind her, so Amaterasu could no longer go back into the cave, and light returned to the world.
