黄泉の国: land of the dead

彼女かのじょは亡なき夫おっとを追おって、黄泉の国よみのくにへ旅立たびだった。

She set out for the land of the dead to follow her late husband.

亡なくなった人ひとが行いく国くにを、黄泉の国よみのくにといいます。

The land where people go when they die is called the land of Yomi.

イザナギは、イザナミに会あいたくて、黄泉の国よみのくにへ行いきました。

Izanagi wanted to meet Izanami, so he went to the land of Yomi.

イザナミは、「残念ざんねんです。もっと早はやく来きてほしかった。私わたしは、もう黄泉の国よみのくにの食べ物たべものを食たべてしまいました」と答こたえました。

Izanami answered, “What a pity. I wish you had come sooner. I have already eaten the food of Yomi.”

イザナギは、千せん人にんで引ひくような大おおきな岩いわで、黄泉の国よみのくにとの境さかいをふさぎました。

Izanagi blocked the boundary with Yomi with a huge rock that a thousand people would have to pull.

黄泉の国よみのくにから帰かえったイザナギは、言いいました。
