神々の誕生とイザナミの死

国くにを生うんだ後あと、イザナギとイザナミは、たくさんの神かみを生うみました。

After giving birth to the lands, Izanagi and Izanami gave birth to many gods.

家いえの神かみ、海うみの神かみ、川かわの神かみ、風かぜの神かみ、木きの神かみ、山の神やまのかみ、野原のはらの神かみなどです。

They were the gods of the house, the sea, the rivers, the wind, the trees, the mountains, the fields, and so on.

こうして、日本にほんの自然しぜんの中なかに、神々かみがみが住すむようになりました。

In this way, gods came to dwell throughout the nature of Japan.

でも、最後さいごに火ひの神かみカグツチを生うんだとき、事件じけんが起おこりました。

But when they finally gave birth to the fire god Kagutsuchi, a disaster occurred.

イザナミは、火ひのために、大おおきなやけどをしてしまったのです。

Izanami was badly burned by the fire.

病気びょうきで苦くるしんだイザナミは、とうとう亡なくなりました。

Suffering from the illness, Izanami at last died.

亡なくなった人ひとが行いく国くにを、黄泉の国よみのくにといいます。

The land where people go when they die is called the land of Yomi.

イザナギは、とても悲かなしんで、泣なきました。

そして、怒いかりのあまり、剣けんで、カグツチを斬きってしまいました。

火ひは、人ひとを助たすける大切たいせつなものであると同時どうじに、危険きけんなものでもあります。
