近畿地方: Kinki region (incl. Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Mie and Shiga prefectures)

九州北部きゅうしゅうほくぶから西日本にしにほん、近畿地方きんきちほうへ、そして東日本ひがしにほんへと進すすみました。

It advanced from northern Kyushu through western Japan to the Kinki region, and then to eastern Japan.

近畿地方きんきちほうや東日本ひがしにほんには、方形周溝墓ほうけいしゅうこうぼが多おおく作つくられました。

In the Kinki region and eastern Japan, many square-ditch burial mounds (hōkei shūkōbo) were made.

九州きゅうしゅうにあったという九州説きゅうしゅうせつと、近畿地方きんきちほうにあったという近畿説きんきせつがあります。

There is the Kyushu theory, which says it was in Kyushu, and the Kinki theory, which says it was in the Kinki region.

弥生時代やよいじだいの終おわりごろ、三さん世紀せいきになると、近畿地方きんきちほうに、とても大おおきな前方後円墳ぜんぽうこうえんふんが作つくられ始はじめました。

Toward the end of the Yayoi period, in the third century, very large keyhole-shaped tombs (zenpō kōenfun) began to be built in the Kinki region.
