日曜日にちようびに山やまに登のぼりました。

I climbed a mountain on Sunday.

山やまを越こえれば、隣国りんごくの領地りょうちに入はいる。

Once we cross the mountain, we enter the neighbor's territory.

いい黒曜石こくようせきは、決きまった山やまからしか取とれなかったので、遠とおくまで運はこばれました。

ただし、季節きせつによって、山やまや海うみへ食べ物たべものを取とりに行いくこともありました。

縄文人じょうもんじんの骨ほねを調しらべると、海うみに近ちかいムラの人ひとは魚さかなや貝かいを、山やまに近ちかいムラの人ひとは木の実このみや肉にくを多おおく食たべていたことがわかります。

Examining their bones shows that people in villages near the sea ate a lot of fish and shellfish, and people near the mountains ate more nuts and meat.

山やまや川かわ、木きや動物どうぶつにも、精霊せいれいがいると考かんがえていたと思おもわれます。

It seems that they believed spirits dwelt even in mountains, rivers, trees, and animals.
