糸魚川: Itoigawa, a city in Niigata Prefecture and a source of jade

ヒスイは、新潟にいがた県けんの糸魚川いといがわで取とれて、日本にほんの各地かくちまで運はこばれました。

Jade was obtained at Itoigawa in Niigata Prefecture and was carried to many parts of Japan.

新潟にいがた県けんの糸魚川いといがわでは、ヒスイという美うつくしい緑色みどりいろの石いしが取とれ、大珠たいしゅという大おおきな玉たまに加工かこうされました。

In Itoigawa in Niigata Prefecture, a beautiful green stone called jade was found, and it was worked into large beads called taishu.
