穂: ear of grain

秋あきになると、稲いねの穂ほが金色きんいろに実みのって頭を垂こうべをたれる。

In autumn, the ears of rice ripen to gold and hang their heads.

風かぜが吹ふくたびに、稲穂いなほが波なみのようにゆれた。

Every time the wind blew, the rice ears swayed like waves.

筆ふでの穂先ほさきを墨すみにひたして、ゆっくり字じを書かいた。

I dipped the tip of the brush in ink and wrote the characters slowly.
