〜時〜分 (telling time): o'clock; minutes

Gives the time of day with 時 for hours and 分 for minutes.

Number + 時 (一時, 七時しちじ, 九時くじ) and number + 分 (ふん/ぷん). 半 means half past. Add に to say 'at that time': 七時に起きます. 午前 = a.m., 午後 = p.m. 今何時ですか asks the time.

Examples

今いま、三時さんじ十分じゅっぷんです。

It is ten past three now.

毎朝まいあさ、七しち時じに起おきます。

I get up at seven every morning.
