N4 · 10 Honorific & humble basics

Humble verb for visiting someone or asking, hearing something.

Used about your own action. 伺います = I will visit; お話を伺う = I hear what you say; 〜伺いたい = I want to ask. The honorific equivalent for the other person is いらっしゃる / おっしゃる. Do not use it for the other person's actions.

Examples

明日あしたの三時さんじにお伺うかがいします。

I will visit you tomorrow at three.

少すこしお伺うかがいしたいことがあります。

I have something I would like to ask you.
