Humble verb for receiving, or politely eating and drinking.

Receiver が Giver に Z をいただく. Humble form of もらう. Also used as humble 食べる/飲む: いただきます. 〜ていただく is the humble version of 〜てもらう.

Examples

先生せんせいに本ほんをいただきました。

I received a book from my teacher.

いただきます。

Thank you for the food. (Let's eat.)
