〜つづける: keep doing; continue

N4 · 07 Time, phases & degree

Says that an action goes on without stopping.

Verb stem + つづける: 話しつづける. Also intransitive 〜つづく. For continuing for a long time, with an object or a time phrase. Not the same as 〜ている, which simply shows progress.

Examples

彼かれは三さん時間じかんも歌うたいつづけました。

He kept singing for three whole hours.

諦あきらめずに、練習れんしゅうを続つづけようと思おもう。

I intend to keep practicing without giving up.
