Verb dictionary form + のに, followed by 使う, 便利, 必要, かかる, いい. Different from the contrasting のに ("although"). Example: この道具は切るのに使う. It focuses on use or cost.

Examples

このナイフは魚さかなを切きるのに使つかいます。

This knife is used for cutting fish.

空港くうこうまで行いくのに一時間いちじかんかかります。

It takes one hour to get to the airport.
