Gives a condition or a case, usually for a rule or instruction.

Plain form or noun + の + 場合 (は). 雨の場合は中止です. More formal and about a specific case compared to 〜たら. Often used for rules, manuals, and notices. 〜場合でも means even in the case of.

Examples

電車でんしゃが遅おくれた場合ばあいは、連絡れんらくしてください。

If the train is late, please contact us.

雨あめの場合ばあいは、試合しあいは中止ちゅうしになります。

In case of rain, the game will be canceled.
