あげる: give (to someone)

Used when you or someone close gives something to another person.

X は Y に Z をあげる. The giver is the speaker or someone in the speaker's circle, and the receiver is an equal or someone close. Do not use it when someone gives something to you; use くれる instead. To a superior, あげる can sound pushy; さしあげる is humble.
