〜(さ)せてもらう: be allowed to; get to do

N3 · 09 Passive, causative & quoting

Says you do something with someone's permission or kindness.

Verb causative te-form + もらう. The speaker is the doer and is thankful. 早退させてもらいます. Humble version: 〜(さ)せていただく. Do not overuse it for things that need no permission.

Examples

来週らいしゅう、休やすみを取とらせてもらいます。

I will take next week off, if you allow me.

今日きょうは先さきに帰かえらせてもらうね。

I'm going to head home first today, okay?
