〜を〜させる (感情の使役): make someone feel (causative)

N3 · 09 Passive, causative & quoting

Says that someone's action causes another person to feel an emotion.

Person + を + verb causative (泣く, 笑う, 驚く, 喜ぶ). 先生を怒らせた (I made the teacher angry). The doer causes the emotion, not necessarily on purpose. Compare 〜に〜させる for orders.

Examples

冗談じょうだんを言いって、みんなを笑わらわせた。

I told a joke and made everyone laugh.

遅刻ちこくして、母ははを心配しんぱいさせてしまった。

I was late and ended up making my mother worry.
