〜おかげで: thanks to; owing to

N3 · 04 Reasons and causes

Gives the cause of a good result, with gratitude.

Verb plain form, adjective, or noun + の + おかげで. The result is good (or at least welcome). Add a note of thanks to the person or thing responsible. For bad results use せいで. 〜おかげか adds a feeling of "maybe because of".

Examples

先生せんせいのおかげで、試験しけんに合格ごうかくできました。

Thanks to my teacher, I was able to pass the exam.

みんなが手伝てつだってくれたおかげで、早はやく終おわった。

Thanks to everyone helping me, it was finished early.
