〜ついでに: while at it; on the way

N3 · 02 Time and sequence

Says you do a second thing using the chance of doing the first.

Verb dictionary or past form, or noun + の + ついでに. The second action is a small extra that is convenient, not the main purpose. Often used when asking small favors.

Examples

駅えきへ行いくついでに、この手紙を出てがみをだしてきて。

While you are going to the station, mail this letter for me.

買い物かいもののついでに、図書館としょかんにも寄よった。

While out shopping, I stopped by the library too.
