〜たきり: ever since; never again after

Says that after one action, nothing further happened.

Verb past form + きり (or っきり). The second part is usually negative: 帰ってこない, 会っていない. It shows a long stretch with no follow-up and often implies worry or regret.

Examples

彼かれは出でかけたきり、まだ帰かえってこない。

He went out and has not come back since.

卒業そつぎょうしたきり、先生せんせいには一度いちども会あっていない。

I have not met my teacher even once since graduating.
