〜ところへ: just when; at the moment

Shows that something interrupted or arrived just as an action was going on.

Verb te-iru, dictionary, or past form + ところへ (ところに also). The second event arrives at that moment, either as help or as an interruption. Compare 〜最中に, which is mostly for bad interruptions.

Examples

帰かえろうとしたところへ、部長ぶちょうから電話でんわがかかってきた。

Just as I was about to leave, a call came from the department head.

困こまっているところへ、友達ともだちが助たすけに来きてくれた。

Just when I was in trouble, a friend came to help me.
