〜ながらも: although; while still

N3 · 02 Time and sequence

Says that two opposite things are true at once.

Verb masu-stem, i-adjective, or noun/na-adjective stem + ながらも. More formal and written than けれども. The same subject must do both. Compare 〜ながら (while doing), which is about simultaneous actions.

Examples

彼かれは忙いそがしいながらも、毎日まいにちジムに通かよっている。

Although he is busy, he goes to the gym every day.

狭せまいながらも、楽たのしい我が家わがやです。

Though small, it is our own cheerful home.
