Adds a small piece of related information.
Used at sentence start to add side information that is related but not essential. Do not use it to change the topic; for that use ところで. Often found in emails and explanations.
Examples
会議は三時からです。ちなみに、場所は第二会議室です。
The meeting starts at three. Incidentally, the place is Meeting Room 2.
このカレーは祖母のレシピです。ちなみに、隠し味は味噌です。
This curry is my grandmother's recipe. By the way, the secret ingredient is miso.
