Links a cause in one sentence to a result in the next.
Sentence-opening connector. The first sentence gives the cause, then そのため gives the result. More formal and written than だから; it is common in news and reports. Not used for requests or commands afterward.
Examples
台風が近づいています。そのため、明日の試合は中止になります。
A typhoon is approaching. For that reason, tomorrow's game is canceled.
原料の価格が上がった。そのため、商品の値段も高くなった。
The price of raw materials went up. Because of that, the product prices also rose.
