Says that even if you do this, the result will not change.
Verb past form (た) + ところで, followed by a negative result (無駄だ, 変わらない). Also used as a new topic marker: 'by the way, ...' in speech. Different from 〜たところ (as a result).
Examples
今さら謝ったところで、彼は許してくれないだろう。
Even if you apologize now, he probably won't forgive you.
今から走ったところで、電車には間に合わない。
Even if we run now, we won't make the train.
