N2 · 12 Honorific and humble set forms

Strongly humble way of saying you do something for the other person.

お + verb stem + 申し上げる (suru-verbs: ご + 漢語 + 申し上げる). More formal than お〜する. Common in written notices and speeches: お礼申し上げます, ご報告申し上げます.

Examples

皆様みなさまに心こころよりお礼おれい申し上もうしあげます。

I sincerely thank everyone.

ご迷惑めいわくをおかけしたことを、深ふかくお詫おわび申し上もうしあげます。

I deeply apologize for the trouble we caused.
