N2 · 12 Honorific and humble set forms

Politely asks someone to do something, in set service language.

お + verb stem + ください (suru-verbs: ご + 漢語 + ください). Used on signs and in announcements: お待ちください, ご確認ください. Raises the other person. Several verbs are exceptions, such as ご覧ください.

Examples

少々しょうしょうお待まちください。

Please wait a moment.

お席せきにお掛かけになってお待まちください。

Please take a seat and wait.
