〜づらい: hard to; awkward to

N2 · 07 Verb-form patterns

Says that something is hard to do because it is painful or awkward.

Verb ます-stem + づらい: 話しづらい, 言いづらい, 歩きづらい. The difficulty comes from feelings or discomfort. Compare 〜にくい: that is more about physical difficulty or shape; 〜づらい is a bit personal.

Examples

この靴くつは、足あしが痛いたくて歩あるきづらい。

These shoes hurt my feet and are hard to walk in.

上司じょうしには、なかなか言いいづらい話はなしだ。

It is a hard thing to bring up with my boss.
