〜に応じて: according to; in response to

N2 · 06 Extent and degree

Says that something changes to match the situation, needs or amount.

Noun + に応じて (also 〜に応じ, 〜に応じた + noun). Example: 収入に応じて税金が変わる. The second half adapts to the first. Compare 〜によって, which is more about difference by case.

Examples

収入しゅうにゅうに応おうじて、保険ほけん料りょうが決きまります。

The insurance fee is set according to income.

お客様おきゃくさまのご要望ようぼうに応おうじて、サービスを変更へんこうできます。

We can change the service in response to the customer's requests.
