〜に沿って: along; in line with

Says that something follows a line, plan or policy.

Noun + に沿って (also 〜に沿った + noun, 〜に沿い). Used for physical lines (川に沿って) and for ideas (方針に沿って). Think of it as "staying along". Compare 〜に基づいて: that is based on facts.

Examples

川かわに沿そって、ゆっくり歩あるいた。

We walked slowly along the river.

会社かいしゃの方針ほうしんに沿そって、計画を進けいかくをすすめる。

We will advance the plan in line with company policy.
