Reports a wish or request and the aim behind it, such as an instruction given to someone.

Verb dictionary or ない form + ようにと, often followed by 言う, 願う, 祈る, 注意する. Example: 遅れないようにと言われた. The core idea is the content of an instruction or hope. Used in reported speech.

Examples

先生せんせいに、宿題しゅくだいを忘わすれないようにと注意ちゅういされた。

My teacher warned me not to forget my homework.

みんなが健康けんこうで過すごせるようにと、神社じんじゃでお祈おいのりした。

I prayed at the shrine that everyone would stay healthy.
