〜に先立って: prior to; before starting

Says that one thing is done as preparation before an important event.

Noun or verb dictionary form + に先立って (also 〜に先立ち). Formal; used for ceremonies, openings or announcements: 開会に先立って. Compare 〜に際して, which means "at the time of". Also 〜に先立つ + noun.

開演かいえんに先立さきだち、注意ちゅうい事項じこうをご説明せつめいいたします。

Before the performance begins, we will explain some points to note.

試験しけんに先立さきだって、座席ざせきの確認かくにんを行おこないます。
