〜てからというもの: ever since (a big change)

N2 · 02 Time and sequence

Says that after a certain event, a big change began and continued.

Verb te-form + からというもの. The speaker emphasizes how much life changed after that point. Similar to 〜て以来 but more emotional. Used with past or ongoing results, not with future plans.

Examples

子供こどもが生うまれてからというもの、早はやく家いえに帰かえるようになった。

Ever since our child was born, I have started coming home early.

この本ほんを読よんでからというもの、毎日まいにちが楽たのしくなった。

Ever since I read this book, every day has become more fun.
