Says something was done without a certain action, in formal style.
Verb dictionary form + ことなしに: 休むことなしに働く. Equals 〜ことなく and 〜ずに, but stiffer. The following clause shows an action that goes on. Also noun + なしに (without notice): 断りなしに.
Examples
彼は、休むことなしに、三日間働き続けた。
He kept working for three days without taking a break.
誰にも相談することなしに、彼は仕事を辞めた。
Without consulting anyone, he quit his job.
