Says something goes beyond what is needed to describe or make up for something.
Verb te-form + 余りある: 想像して余りある, 補って余りある. Formal. Also 〜に余る. The feeling or amount overflows past what you can express. Often with 想像 or 同情.
Examples
遺族の悲しみは、察して余りある。
The grief of the bereaved family is more than we can fully imagine.
この利益は、これまでの損失を補って余りある。
This profit more than makes up for the losses so far.
