〜じみる: to look/seem like

Makes a verb meaning "to be tinged with" a quality, usually a negative one.

Noun + じみる (+た): 子供じみた, 年寄りじみた, 所帯じみた. Gives a slightly negative impression. A limited set.

Examples

そんな子供こどもじみた言い訳いいわけは聞ききたくない。

I don't want to hear such a childish excuse.

彼かれの話はなしはどこか嘘うそじみて聞きこえた。

His story somehow sounded like a lie.
