〜たところで: even if ...; no matter

Says that even if you do X, it won't change the result.

Verb た-form + ところで, followed by a negative or "no use" idea. It expresses a feeling of "it's pointless". Don't confuse with 〜たところだ (just did).

Examples

今いまから急いそいだところで、もう間に合まにあわない。

Even if we hurry from now, we can't make it.

謝あやまったところで、失うしなった信頼しんらいは戻もどらない。

Even if you apologize, lost trust won't return.
