Says there is no choice but to do something unwelcome.

ない-stem + ざるを得ない. する becomes せざるを得ない. Formal, written; spoken equivalent is 〜しかない. The feeling is reluctant acceptance.

Examples

雨あめなので中止ちゅうしせざるを得せざるをえない。

Because of the rain, we have no choice but to cancel.

上司じょうしの命令めいれいには従したがわざるを得えない。

I have no choice but to obey my boss's order.
