N4 · 02 Favors, passive & causative

Humble way of saying 〜てもらう, used toward superiors.

Verb te-form + いただく. Doer takes に. Very common in business: 〜ていただけませんか ("could you"). Do not use about your own family or inferiors.

Examples

部長ぶちょうに資料しりょうを見みていただいた。

I had the manager look at the materials.

もう一度もういちど説明せつめいしていただけませんか。

Could you explain once more?
