Written "even" for an extreme example; stronger than さえ.

N すら + usually negative. Formal and literary. 〜ですら = even for.

Examples

その子こは自分じぶんの名前なまえすら書かけない。

That child can't even write his own name.

医者いしゃですらその病気びょうきを知しらなかった。

Even the doctor didn't know that illness.
