Expresses a result contrary to expectation, with frustration or surprise.

Plain form + のに (noun/na-adj: なのに). Not followed by requests or commands. Also "for the purpose of": 作るのに時間がかかる.

Examples

勉強べんきょうしたのに、合格ごうかくできませんでした。

Although I studied, I couldn't pass.

春はるなのに、まだ寒さむいです。

Even though it's spring, it's still cold.
