Plain past of ない: did not.

Verb negative stem + なかった. Polite: ませんでした. For i-adjectives: くなかった. Nouns: じゃなかった.

Examples

昨日きのうは何なにも食たべなかった。

I ate nothing yesterday.

彼かれは昨日きのう、学校がっこうに来こなかった。

He did not come to school yesterday.
