Dictionary form + ことがある says something happens now and then.

Dictionary or ない-form + ことがある. Not for daily routines, only for occasional events. Experience in the past is 〜たことがある. Negative: 〜ないこともある.

Examples

夜よる、眠ねむれないことがあります。

Sometimes I cannot sleep at night.

たまに電車でんしゃで寝過ねすごすことがある。

I sometimes oversleep on the train.
