けれど: but; although

Standard "but", a step more formal than けど.

けれど < けれども (most formal). Plain or polite clause before. Same use as けど.

Examples

雨あめだけれど、出でかけます。

It's raining, but I'll go out.

頑張がんばったけれども、負まけました。

I tried hard, but I lost.
