〜かどうか: whether or not

Puts a yes/no question inside a sentence: "whether or not".

Plain form + かどうか; noun and na-adjective drop だ. Used with 分からない, 知らない, 聞く, 確かめる. Question words use か alone (何時か). どうか can be dropped.

Examples

彼かれが来くるかどうか分わかりません。

I do not know whether he will come.

この薬が効くすりがきくかどうか試ためしてみる。

I will try whether this medicine works.
