いらっしゃる: honorific: be, go, come

N4 · 10 Honorific & humble basics

Honorific for いる, 行く and 来る.

Polite form: いらっしゃいます (not いらっしゃります). Also honorific for 〜ている: 〜ていらっしゃる. Used for someone else's actions, never one's own.

Examples

先生せんせいは今いま、教室きょうしつにいらっしゃいます。

The teacher is in the classroom now.

明日あした、社長しゃちょうがいらっしゃいます。

The president will come tomorrow.
