Polite past of です.

Noun / na-adjective + でした. For i-adjectives use plain past + です: 高かったです, not 高いでした. Negative: ではありませんでした.

Examples

昨日きのうは雨あめでした。

It was rainy yesterday.

試験しけんは簡単かんたんでした。

The exam was easy.
